About East Main: 101:

East Main 101: is an idea from City of Jackson, TN Communications Director Kenneth Cummings that provides education to the community about City Government. Kenneth has a background in journalism previously working for The Jackson Sun newspaper. East Main: 101 is a play on the term for general education courses such as "English: 101" and our city hall address "101 E. Main St." This series will be an inside look at city government where viewers and listeners will learn more about Jackson, TN City Government and the people within the organization.

About Jackson, TN:

The City of Jackson, known as "The Hub City," is the eighth largest city in the state of Tennessee. While the nickname "Hub City" is a nod to Jackson's history as a railroad town, the city's location halfway between Nashville and Memphis along Interstate 40, as well as its rail access, being located an hour from each major river in Tennessee, and its regional airport makes it a modern-day, multi-modal hub.

The connectivity that helped Jackson earn its nickname also led the city to become a center of trade, education, entertainment, arts and culture, and industry. Jackson is home to six colleges and universities, as well as a state technology center. Healthcare is Jackson's largest industry, followed by manufacturing with everything from automotive parts to Pringles potato chips being made in Jackson. Jackson serves as the retail, employment, and entertainment hub for the West Tennessee region, serving over 400,000 people on a daily basis.

Also known as, the birthplace of Rockabilly Music, Jackson is the hometown of many well-renowned musicians, including Carl Perkins, Big Maybell, LOLO, and more.

Jackson's affordable cost of living and numerous quality-of-life amenities make it a great place to raise a family, start a business, or invest in your community. The Hub City invites you to connect here.
